Munster Students Win Top Prizes in State-Wide D.A.R.E. Poster Contest

The Munster Police Department is pleased to announce that five Munster students were honored in this year's state-wide Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Indiana Poster Contest!  In April 2023, D.A.R.E. officers from all over the State of Indiana invited their fifth grade students to create a poster displaying what they learned through their D.A.R.E. classes this year.  The entries were submitted to D.A.R.E. Indiana which judged them and sponsored the prizes.

One grand prize winner and five honorable mention winners were selected by D.A.R.E. Indiana which included the following Munster students:

Laein C., Eads Elementary School - Grand Prize Winner

Zoey B., Elliott Elementary School - Honorable Mention

Briney

Savannah B., St. Thomas More School - Honorable Mention

Czapka

Zenna C., Eads Elementary School - Honorable Mention

Martinez

Adeline M., Eads Elementary School - Honorable Mention

For winning the grand prize, Laein received a $100 gift card and will be invited to a special ceremony at the Indiana Governor's Mansion later this year.  For receiving honorable mention awards, Zoey, Savannah, Zenna, and Adeline received $25 gift cards.

The Munster Police Department has presented the D.A.R.E. Program in Munster schools for 35 YEARS, having implemented the program in 1988.  The program recently celebrated its 40TH ANNIVERSARY in the United States.
