Munster Matters - Master Plan Campaign

At the November 7, 2017 Park Board Meeting, the Board of Munster Parks and Recreation unanimously approved the hiring of Planning Resources Inc. (PRI) of Wheaton, Illinois to prepare a comprehensive master plan for Munster Parks and Recreation. PRI was chosen from four firms that submitted proposals in early November.

Planning Resources Inc. will work closely with Greg Vitale, Director of Parks and Recreation, the park staff, residents and focus groups to complete this project.

Public meetings with key stakeholders and residents will be conducted on January 10. The public is welcome to attend a “Meet the Planners” session from 6:30-8:00 pm at Centennial Park where you can share ideas, learn about the process, and help shape the future of parks and recreation. A comprehensive community-wide survey will be sent to random households the week of January 22, 2018. If you do not receive a copy in the mail, you may contact Munster Parks and Recreation to obtain a copy of the survey. A final Master Plan draft is anticipated in April 2018. A public workshop and draft plan review will take place in May 2018.
