2015 Organization Review
In December of 2014 the Town of Munster Council authorized me to enter into a contract with The Novak Consulting Group for the purpose of conducting an organizational review of our operations.
At the time, the Town was experiencing a period of transition, as many people with deep experience had recently departed the organization. With new faces and that lack of institutional knowledge, it was a good idea to have an outside firm come in and take a look at what we were and are doing and how we are doing it – as well as to provide ideas on ways we can improve on our already high-level of customer service.
Over the course of the last six months the Novak Group has been on-site to conduct multiple interviews, review documents and data, and present preliminary findings. The staff of the Town of Munster at all levels has been completely transparent and helpful during this review. I am proud to work with people as professional and open as we have here in Munster.
An executive summary of the report was presented at the June 22nd Town Council meeting. This presentation is found posted here.
In addition to the executive summary, the final report is also posted here. Containing 67 discreet recommendations, this document will serve as a road map for our Town to continue to improve. The implementation of these recommendations will occur over time. There will not be a sudden wave of dramatic change.
That is not to say we will not make adjustments in the way we operate over time. However, when these adjustments are made, they will be made in a collaborative and transparent manner that will allow people to take ownership in the success of our operations.
The key takeaways from the report are that the Town has great people that care about doing a good job for the residents of Munster, and I couldn’t agree more.
