Town of Munster Indiana

UPDATE #7  – February 13, 2026 

• bp activity on two inactive pipelines in Munster, IN continues. 

• Crews removed the span of pipeline over Hart Ditch.  

• Follow up backfilling is expected to start mid-to-late next week in the Somerset and Briar Creek communities. 

• Landscaping is being planned at work sites based on temperature and other relevant conditions. 

• The community can expect to see heavy machinery at and near the work site. Additional noise may be heard with the construction. 

• Residents may smell odors in the surrounding area. bp is utilizing equipment to mitigate odors as work is conducted.  Air monitoring is in place. 

• The Indiana Department of Emergency Management (IDEM) has been engaged throughout the entirety of this work. 

• The safety of our responders, the community, and the environment remain our highest priority. Updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
