HELP TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL D.A.R.E. DAY!
Thursday, April 21, 2022
The Munster Police Department encourages all schools, residents and businesses to help celebrate National Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Day through social media postings on Thursday, April 21st. Community members are asked to please post photos to social media throughout the day from past D.A.R.E. Program events and graduations along with the hash tag #munsterdareday2022.
In addition, parents are encouraged to take time to speak with their children about various safety topics to help promote safety in our community and businesses/schools are encouraged to put up a positive message on their front marquees.
National D.A.R.E. Day is held on the third Thursday of each April to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the D.A.R.E. Program in Los Angeles, California back in 1983. This year will be the program's 39th Anniversary in the Univted States. The program provides information about drug prevention, bullying prevention, stranger-danger, internet safety, and more.
The Munster Police Department has provided the program to thousands of students in our town since 1988. We appreciate the continued support from the community for helping to make our D.A.R.E. Program possible for 34 years.
