Senior Citizen Welfare Check Program

 PD Patch

The Munster Police Department implemented their Senior Citizen Welfare Check Program in December 2016.  This program allows senior citizens who are residents of Munster to enroll into a program where they are contacted during times of severe weather (cold, heat, disaster) or power outages to check on their well-being.  If contact cannot be made with the resident, attempts will be made to make contact with individuals listed as emergency contacts and an officer will be dispatched to the residence to attempt to make physical contact with the resident.

This program is especially encouraged for senior citizens who are residing by themselves or who may not have any relatives who live nearby, however, any senior citizen who would like to enroll in the program is welcome to do so.  Authorized family members wishing to enroll family members into the program can do so as well, and patrol officers will be encouraged to assist senior citizens in enrolling if they believe that they could benefit from the program.

Enrollment forms are available at the Munster Police Department's Records Division, located at 1001 Ridge Road, during regular daytime business hours Monday through Friday, or you can download a form by clicking here.
