Computers and Electronics - The Munster Public Works Department has a recycling shed for electronics at the Public Works Garage, 508 Fisher Street, in the recycling area inside the Public Works gate.  The shed is accessible during normal Public Works operating hours of Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.  There is no attendant on sight to help unload the computers and electronics.

Latex Paint - Latex paint can be put into your regular garbage IF IT IS COMPLETELY DRIED OUT.  You will need to take the top off and put either kitty litter or sand into the paint and let it sit out for a couple of days to dry up.  Once it is dried out,  you can place it in the garbage. Please make sure it is completely dry; if not, once the hopper compresses on the garbage truck, you will have paint down your street.

Latex Paint Recycling - you can take latex paint for recycling to the City of Hobart Yard, 340 S. Shelby Street, Hobart.  Drop off days will be Monday - Friday, 7 am to 2:45 pm, Saturdays, 8 am to 11:45 am. NO OIL BASED PAINT WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Any questions please call Hobart City Yard at 219-942-6121.

Oil Based Paint and Solvents - you will need to take these items to a household hazardous waste pick up.  Munster's 2015 pick up will be Saturday, September 19th from 9 am to 2 pm, 508 Fisher Street.

Carpet - Waste Management will pick up carpet that is cut into 5 foot lengths, rolled and bound.  It can be bound with electrical tape or string and put out on your normal pick up day.  If the carpet is not bound, it will not be picked up.

Large Items (Sofas, Household Furniture, Mattresses, Etc...) - Waste Management will pick up ONE large item a week with your normal garbage, you do NOT need to call in for the pick up.
