NEXT NEIGHBORHOOD CRIME WATCH MEETING

MAIN MEETING ROOM - MUNSTER TOWN HALL
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
Munster Neighborhood Crime Watch is sponsored by the Munster Police Department and CHOICE Community Council. The program currently consists of over 100 Neighborhood Crime Watch Groups spread throughout Munster involving thousands of dedicated citizens. Our program has served as a model for other nearby communities and is dedicated to the idea that the more informed our citizens are the safer they will be.
BLOCK/SUBDIVISION CAPTAINS
Each Neighborhood Crime Watch Group is supervised by volunteer Block/Subdivision Captains whose purpose is to serve as a liasion between the Munster Police Department and their neighbors and to assist in the distribution of crime prevention information. If you would like more information on starting up your own Crime Watch Group call 836-6639.
BLOCK WATCHERS
Each Neighborhood Crime Watch Group is made up of neighbors, called Block Watchers, who look out for each other and report suspicious activity to the police department. Our Block Watchers are vigilant citizens who are kept informed of the latest crime trends and prevention methods.
THE MUNSTER CRIME WATCH WEEKLY REPORT
This report was implemented in April 2005 by Officer James Ghrist of the Munster Police Department. The report contains valuable information on upcoming meetings and events, important police blotter items, arrests, charges filed, helpful town codes, and effective crime prevention methods. The report started with approximately twenty recipients at its inception and is now distributed by email to thousands of residents on a weekly basis with the help of Neighborhood Block/Subdivision Captains. This allows these residents to stay informed and encourages them to report suspicious activity to the police department. Click on the banner below to sign up to receive the report by e-mail.
CRIME WATCH MEETINGS
Crime Watch Meetings are held quarterly (in January, April, July, and October) or as needed for the citizens of Munster. Any resident or business representatives are invited to attend Crime Watch Meetings, which provide information on recent crime activity and prevention tips while giving residents and opportunity to raise concerns, ask questions, or pick up crime prevention materials. Click here for information on the next meeting.
THE CHOICE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Citizens wishing to help plan or provide feedback on community programs and events are invited and encouraged to attend quarterly meetings of the CHOICE Community Council in January, April, July, and October. These meetings allow us to gauge the effectiveness of our programs while providing a forum for new safety programs to be implemented. In addition, the CHOICE Council organizes and produces annual programs such as the National Night Out Against Crime. Click here for information on their next meeting.
